Nemertes Study Examines Appgate SDP for Securing Remote Work

Nemertes, a global research advisory and consulting firm that analyzes “emerging technologies,” released the “Real Economic Value study on Appgate SDP, an industry-leading Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA) solution.”

This independent study examined the business value and operational impact of Appgate SDP, and included interviews with technology organizations in multiple industries.

Particular areas of emphasis include VPN replacement, with 44 percent of respondents using Appgate SDP to “modernize secure remote connections”; Securing DevOps for providing developers with dynamic access to network resources; and Cloud migration, to unify access policies and controls across on-premise and cloud-based deployments.

Other findings pointed to Appgate SDP being a useful tool for:

  • Accelerating digital transformation by 119 percent, with examples such as onboarding vendors and maintaining security stance.
  • Managing Zero Trust security initiatives, with those surveyed ranking the software a 9.5 out of 10 for how “strategic to Zero Trust” it is.
  • Supporting work-from-home as a “critical enabler.”
  • Improving operational efficiency, with all respondents noting improvements of 50-100 percent in terms of time for provisioning new users, staff count, trouble tickets, security incidents related to logins and application access; and support for handling multiple, simultaneous users.

The study examined responses from an unnamed number of members of the high-tech, financial services, manufacturing, media, publishing, government and non-profit sectors in the U.S. and U.K., from March to May 2021. Companies included mid-sized to large enterprises with an average employee count of 3,339 and annual revenues of $40 million to $2.5 billion.
