The work-from-anywhere (WFx) trend did not start with the shutdowns in spring of 2020. For many years, an increasing percentage of U.S. workforces have been mobile and remote. By 2019, as much as 10 percent of U.S. office employees who could work remotely already did so three to four days a week. Forced shutdowns did, however, push remote working into the mainstream, and even after workers return to their routines in the office, as much as 20 to 30 percent or more of enterprise employees are expected to continue working remotely at least three days a week.
