Forbes Advisor: 37 Percent of Remote Workers Have Activity Tracked by Employer

Forbes Advisor posted a new survey in which it indicated that approximately 43 percent of workers can confirm having their online activity monitored by their employer, leading to increased adoption of VPNs.

Of note, the report logged:

  • 68 percent of employees reporting at least one thing they’d be embarrassed to have their employer see.
  • 48 percent of hybrid (and 37 percent of fully remote) employees noting their activity is tracked.
  • 39 percent revealing that this surveillance has a negative impact on their relationship with their employer.
  • 43 percent indicate it negatively affects company morale.
  • 40 percent report it having a positive impact on their productivity.
  • 33 percent noting that this monitoring has come up in performance reviews.
  • 18 percent report stress and anxiety from being monitored, while 16 percent report taking fewer breaks.
