TeamDynamics unveiled its 2024 State of the Team report. This survey presents in-depth analysis of team communication and collaboration in the modern workplace, drawing insight from anonymized data collected from thousands of responses over the past year.
At a time when the workplace is changing due to technology advancements, increasing hybrid and remote work models and an influx of workers, teams from various industries and regions rely on TeamDynamics’ proprietary behavioral assessments to better understand internal workings, identify areas for improvement and enhance overall productivity.
The report explored TeamDynamics’ four core dimensions of team behavior:
- Communicating – how teams share information
- Processing – how teams translate information into actionable insight
- Deciding – how teams choose a course of action
- Executing – how teams work toward goals
Key insights included:
- Struggles with team alignment, with nine out of 10 individuals having working preferences that do not align with at least one of their team’s core behaviors.
- Discrepancy in planning, as 70 percent of individuals prefer their teams to build detailed plans for executing projects, while 27 percent of teams actually do so.
- Manager misunderstanding, with just 36 percent of managers accurately describing every one of their team’s core behaviors, and nearly two out of every three managers likely engaging with their team incorrectly.
- Managerial influence on team norms, as 42 percent of managers have preferences that match the majority of their team’s core behaviors.
The report offers a point-in-time analysis of team behaviors across industries, including technology, healthcare, retail and more, and regions including North and South America, Europe, Asia, the Middle East and Africa. Teams surveyed a range from startups to established multinational corporations, providing a diverse and comprehensive overview of current teamwork trends.
