That includes the threequarters of respondents expecting increased spending on collaboration solutions and the half who are increasing virtual desktop and employee monitoring. Across the wide range of remote-enabling business technologies, a mere 1 to 4 percent reported an expected decrease in spending. And despite their possibly controversial nature, IT tools that track remote worker productivity are being considered by nearly half of IT departments surveyed. Just more than two in 10 already have some form of this type of tracking in place. Despite also the unanimous sentiment that supporting remote work has been a serious challenge – and a serious security challenge in particular – end-user computing professionals are equally una- nimous regarding remote work’s positive impact in helping to recruit and retain talent, showed Dimensional Research’s figures. That includes more than threequarters of respondents who said it “helps significantly.” A similar seven in 10 believe remote work increases worker productivity, compared to the 1 percent who said remote work made employees “much less” productive.
